In 1978 two separate groups, Faith Word Ministries,
under Bill Blonn,
and Calvary Independent
Church, led by Ron Brown, merged together to become known as The
King's Community Church. By 1981 Pastor Brown had stepped into glory, and Pastor Bill Blonn assumed
the office
of Senior Pastor.
Under the leadership of Pastor Blonn and his wife Lois, the church
continued to grow and soon a larger meeting space was needed. Then in 1984 we purchased an "onion warehouse" which we renovated,
and soon began to hold services in our new location in South Holland. Five years
later we added a gymnasium and worship center which tripled the
size of the facility. Since then our Children's Ministry has met in the old worship center, while our Youth Group has
met in their own youth center in the gymnasium.
In August of 2003 Pastor Bill and Lois retired from full time
ministry and installed the associate minister, Pete Tassio, as the new senior Pastor. Pastor Pete and his wife Debbie have
been in relationship with Bill and Lois since 1976, and started full time ministry in the King's Community under Pastor Blonn
in August of 1984. On October 7, 2006 Pastor Blonn, at the age of 79, entered the presence of the Lord. Although he is greatly
missed, we continue to experience God's abundant blessings, grace and guidance; a tribute to God's faithfulness and keeping
power.
